Christmas Lights on my street

Christmas means only one thing on my street - LIGHTS!!

The winner of OMG LOOK AT THE COLOURS is always one of my neighbours down the end of the road.

Every year his lights are similar, with some differences every time.

This is only half of it.

See-saws, train tracks and the train even plays music as it drives past.

Snow globe, twinkling musical hanging lamps and mickey/minnie blowups.

More inflatables, lights and a santa projection onto the next house!

Short video of the trains and musical lamps.

Other houses arn't quite as extreme.

And these ones have a little bit of a twinkle.

You NEVER see these anymore - The mechanical moving santa.

Crumpets Winter Challenge: Giftwrap and Presents

Gift Wrap!

I was getting a little sick of the winterness of green and red and silver and gold.  Shuuush.  You didn't hear me say that.

How about pink and purple?
And green and red detailing.

Rimmel 60 Second Portobello Pink (light pink), Shocker (dark pink), Climax (purple).  Jordana Pop Art Red Illustration & Define In Green.

Playing with Rimmel

I forgot about these - I found them on my camera.

My top coat smudged the silver.  Sad.

The darker pink (shocker) is a more of a pure shimmer, whereas the lighter pink (portobello) has a scatted rainbow microshimmer.

Rimmel Portobello and Shocker.  L.A. Colors Nail Art Silver.

Something simple, but classy.

These were 60 second Rimmels, but they still needed 2 coats, and could easily of used a 3rd.  I don't think they would be that awesome for stamping as the colours are way too sheer.

They're pretty though.

Crumpets Winter Challenge: Lights!

Hello my pretties!!

When I think of lights, I think of my neighbours house.  He has his entire house covered in things that flash, move and potentially sing.

EDIT:  Added photo of my neighbours house.

This is only half of it.

These nails are what I expect his strings to look like after the season has passed: a massive jumble!

Pretty eye catching during the day...

And at night under black light!

The gradient is Revlon Cherries In The Snow, Winter Mist & Pink Ice. The stamp is BM 11 (which was just a leeeeeettle too small for my thumbs) with Kleancolor black. The "Lights" are Kleancolor white as a base, fluro pink, fluro orange, Jordana Pop Art Avant-Garde and Nail Star Fluro Yellow.

Sheeeesh!
Thats a lot of colours.

I don't see a lot of sideways gradients, so I thought I've give that a try.  I like it.  I think this is one of the ones I like the best.

My "dotting tool" is a metal sewing pin stabbed into the back of a paintbrush.  Hey, it works!

Sunday Adventures In Stamping: Gold.

Pretty pretty pretty. I don't have a "gold" polish, so I made do with my Kleancolor Metallic Yellow.

Keeping it christmassy...

In sunlight:

In shade:

Rimmel 60sec Movie Star, CR mini 23, Kleancolor Metallic Yellow, Jordana Quickshine topcoat.

I like the red and the gold more then I like the green and the gold, but I think its more subtle on the green. Yes, they're dinged up something fierce, but I've never been one to stay still for long enough to let it dry.

This is what it looks like to put acetone based nail polish remover onto a cosmetics sponge.
Interesting reaction!  I was intending to use it to remove polish from the plates, but it just went squidgy.

Also, acquired two little MFD/Particle Board tables.

These are going to be my Summer "I'm bored I want to paint something" project. A few coats of acrylic in a rainbow-type fashion and I'll be able to chuck them into various places that require additional surfaces.

Messy craft room is messy.

Bonus Kitten!!

Crumpets Winter Challenge #2 Gingerbread & Candycanes

#2 of the Winter Challenge, due 7th and 8th of Dec, but it never hurts to get a head start!

Gingerbread, Candycanes, and just to be tricky, I added the next Sat-ART-day challenge too: Colourblocking.

CR minis 34 & 36, Jordana Pop Art Red Illustration, Define In Green, Kleancolor White.

Now, I DO like this one.  You have colour blocked green/red/brown, gingerbread in white and brown, stripy candycanes... So pretty and yummy looking!  Helps that my stamping has improved :)
